Why Antioch Pottery Elevates Our Candle Cocoon Fragrance Oil Photos

The Story Behind the Unique Pottery in Many of Our Pictures

If you’ve spent any time browsing our Candle Cocoon photos, you’ve probably noticed the striking pottery that shows up again and again — rich reddish‑browns, purples, and soft lavender tones flowing together in glossy, organic patterns. Those pieces aren’t just props. They’re part of a story I’ve been connected to for years.

At Candle Cocoon, our mission has always been to create fragrance products that feel personal, intentional, and crafted with care — and the visuals we use matter just as much as the scents we create. Each picture tells a story and helps give the feel for the fragrance oil.The pottery featured in many of our photos isn’t just decoration; it reflects the same values we put into every fragrance oil: artistry, authenticity, and a deep love for handmade work.

That’s why Jill Tortorella’s pottery fits so naturally into our world. Her pieces bring a richness and warmth to our product photography that perfectly complements the character of Candle Cocoon. Just as Jill pours her heart into every vessel she creates, we pour ours into every fragrance we develop. It’s a shared spirit — craftsmanship, creativity, and a passion for making something truly special.

I have long been a huge fan of Jill Tortorella’s work. Jill is the creative force behind Antioch Pottery studoi, and she is truly a one‑woman powerhouse. Every single piece she sells — every bowl, platter, vase, casserole, and custom form — is made entirely in her vision. Just Jill, her wheel, her clay, and her fiercely guarded glaze chemistry.

When I owned my retail space, I dedicated a large portion of it to her pottery because I believed in it that much. Other potters would come in and tell me, almost in disbelief, that the level of detail Jill achieves simply shouldn’t be possible with high‑fire glazes. And yet… she does it. Consistently.

Part of the magic comes from her secretive glazing process, something she has refined over decades. The other part comes from her custom high‑temperature kiln, which she designed and built herself. It’s a beast — and Jill is incredibly proud of it. A lucky few have been invited to see it in person, and it’s clear how much of her heart and brilliance went into its creation.

Because her work has inspired me for so long, it’s only natural that many of the pottery pieces in our pictures are either Jill’s actual creations or inspired by her signature glaze style. Her colors, her textures, her forms — they bring a warmth and authenticity that no mass‑produced piece could ever match.

But if you want to see the real thing, the true artistry behind the inspiration, please visit her site. Jill’s work is genuinely extraordinary, and supporting an artist like her means supporting decades of dedication, experimentation, and soul.

And not only is Jill’s pottery beautiful — Jill herself is an incredible person. Kind, genuine, wildly talented, and endlessly passionate about her craft. It has been such a pleasure to know her all these years, to watch her work evolve, and to see the joy she brings to everyone who discovers her pottery. Supporting her has never felt like “supporting a business” — it has always felt like celebrating a friend whose artistry deserves to be seen.
