We are deeply saddened by the recent tragedy at AAK’s Louisville facility, and we want to inform our customers that this incident may impact wax supply in the coming months.

On September 21, 2025, an explosion occurred at AAK’s plant in Louisville, Kentucky, resulting in the loss of a valued team member. Our hearts go out to their family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time

AAK is a key supplier of specialty fats and waxes used in candle making, cosmetics, and personal care products. Following the incident, operations in the affected part of the plant have been shut down as a precaution while investigations continue. 

This disruption is expected to cause delays and potential shortages in certain wax formulations—particularly those derived from hydrogenated vegetable oils and plant-based blends.

For makers and manufacturers, this may mean:

• Longer lead times on wax orders from distributors who source from AAK

• Temporary price increases due to tightened supply and increased demand

• Limited availability of specific wax types, especially those used in clean-burning and vegan formulations

We recommend:

• Reviewing current inventory and planning ahead for seasonal production

• Exploring alternative wax blends that match your performance and aesthetic needs

• Communicating with suppliers to stay informed about expected delays or substitutions

By purchasing this product you acknowledge that wax may arrive with an "airing" out period.  If wax feels damp or "sticky" you will need to open box in a room with a dehumidifier for several days.  Due to the nature of this natural product it can attract moisture and may need to be aired out.

Golden Wax 464 is a blended wax that contains a soy-based additive and are both natural and kosher. This soy-based additive enables the soy to be poured at a hotter temperature reducing frosting and increasing FO load abilities. Although using a high quality fragrance oil will reduce soot output. High quality fragrance oils have fewer solvents, are more concentrated and require less oil for a fully scented candle

This wax blends well with paraffin, slack wax, and microcrystalline waxes.

Manufacturer Tested Oil Load: 7%-9%

Golden Brands recommends that you heat the Golden Brands 464 to ~185F. Transfer to pour pot. Add scent and dye. Stir for 2 minutes Let cool until 125-145F and pour into warmed container. Let cool. We at Candle Cocoon pour our candles immediately after stirring. This may result in uglier tops. We get a few of those and we use a heat gun to smooth them out.

 Quantities over 50 pounds must be ordered by the case.

***Pallets are shipped only.  36 cases per pallet. Assumption is that a lift gate will be needed and you will unload from a pallet.

NOTE: Do to the natural properties of this product small amounts of shell/husk may still be present in wax.  Unfortunately these pieces will fall to the bottom of the candle.  Solutions - use a fine mesh strainer when pouring or wait until debris has settled and take from top portion of wax.
