Testing Candle Cocoon scents in Tealights, Votives and Jars

Testing your fragrances is so important.  We have said it a million times.  I don't think folks realize just how much testing goes into developing our scents.  And the different types of tests that we preform on each scent.  The first test that we do is for scent throw.  We test hundreds of samples to find the perfect one for us.  This can takes us between 6 months - 4 years.  Back and forth with the manufacturers.  Tweaking and retesting.  How to do a test burn for scent throw is laid out in another blog article.  After we have decided on the scent, we then need to test for the proper wick size for that scent in every diameter size that we use.  The picture above is from testing just one of our scents in just one type of our jars.  We test multiples of our scents which I have described in detail in a previous entry as well.  This test is usually done without dye the first time and with dye for the second round.

Every jar, votive, pillar and tealight needs to be tested for the best wick size.   Here is the last 6 months of our testing.  We are using GB464 for the jars and tealights and our Candle Cocoon votive wax for the votives.  Please remember that the temperature that you pour your candles, the amount of air that gets incorporated when you stir, your local weather and gremlins may cause your results to vary from mine.  But, this is a good starting point.
