We have all been there. The lure of free shipping seems to make things too good to be true. But most times when you dig down and find the product at other locations you can usually find if for cheaper when you pay the shipping. Let's face it. Most times when you buy a product either on-line or in a store the cost of shipping is worked in. Either it is added to the cost of the product or it has it's own little total on your invoice. Shipping is just a fact of life.
Candle Cocoon, much like every other company has tossed around the idea of having free shipping. But we really like the idea of being more transparent and letting you see your actual costs.
At Candle Cocoon we use many different methods for shipping but not all of them are able to connect the website with the shipping calculators from UPS, USPS or Spee-Dee shipping. So we are working hard to make these options known to customers. Even the Regional A and Regional B USPS shipping rates do not show up for the website. We have to use our "Click n Ship" to be able to see the rates. I have recently added a "Regional A" choice to our drop down to try to show that it is an option. Unfortunately since it is a calculated cost that doesn't plug into our website I have hand entered the highest possible cost which is $12.50. If it turns out to be less we do refund the extra.
Spee-Dee Delivery is a special case! If you live in certain parts of the Midwest we may be able to save you a TON of cash. Especially shipping heavy items like a case of wax. Unfortunately there is no way to hook our website up to the Spee-Dee calculator for you to get an idea of the cost. So if you live in any of the areas below you may just be seeing a nice sized shipping refund!
How does all this work? The most simple way is to just place your order and choose the best choice form those given (there is a button that says "more choices" that you can click to see additional shipping choices.) Sorry, there is no other way for us to get everything to display at once. Apparently there is a deal with UPS to do it this way. So after you order we will email you if we see that we can save you money (even just a few dollars) we will email you to give you your options. If you are ordering through our Candle Cocoon website for your candle or soap making supplies we will not change your shipping choice without your express acknowledgement. We will check through past emails and invoices to see if you have ordered the cheaper way before and if so we will change your shipping and refund the difference. But we don't change your shipping without your say so the first time. Why you may ask? Why don't we just change it to save you money. There are a couple of reasons. Not everyone can get UPS or USPS. For whatever reason they sometimes refuse service. Or there is personal preference. Maybe the UPS driver is just nicer. We don't want to force a choice on you so unless you let us change services, we won't. Not sure which service is best you can always write in "cheapest shipping" in the customer comments section to save us the email time.
BUT if you choose UPS and you live in the Spee-Dee Deliver zone we may switch to Spee-Dee and refund the difference. The cost difference is amazing! It can often be MORE THAN A 50% savings!
Here is an example of the work that we do for you. Let's say that you are ordering 3 pounds of product and choose UPS for $21 and you live in Illinois. Using Regional A shipping it would actually cost $8.50 but using Spee-Dee it would only be $7.95. Since it is switching for UPS to Spee-Dee we would tell you about the switch and refund the difference.
Now lets say it is the same seniro from above but it is a 6 pound package. UPS would be $23 to you and Spee-Dee would be $11 but USPS Regional A would still be only $8.50. We would then contact you to ask if you would like to switch to USPS.
One other thing to know about how we figure out our rates. We do add in merchant fees, gas taxes, packaging and statement fees to get to our numbers. Still, after all that, our rates are usually lower than what the average person can get their packages shipped. If you do have a UPS shipper number we will gladly ship on your account! Just let us know your number.
One more little fact. USPS delivers on Saturday and UPS and Spee-Dee do not. But overall the speed of the delivery seems to be about the same if not on a weekend.
