I know the feeling. You want to create a candle that is as natural as possible. So of course, to get scent form a candle you want to use Essential Oils instead of Fragrance Oils. And while I would usually not tell someone to not do something, I want to let you know ahead of time what you should expect. Unfortunately, what will most likely happen is that you will "Burn" a lot of money on EOs. And by burn I really mean burn. Basically most EOs have a much smaller molecular structure than fragrance oils. Their light weight causes...

You did it! You got the perfect candle and you are ready to sell! Woo, so glad all of that testing is over! Flash forward, 6 months later***** Something is wrong! You have been doing everything the same! You go to the wax manufacturers website and there is a notice that some batches of wax had issues. Ok, woo. You switch out the waxes because it is your lot number. Breath easy! 6 months later-Holiday rush. Customer returns a candle because it is not burning correctly. Something is wrong....What could it be...Not the wax, not the scent, not the wick. ...

Times are changing and so are our labels for our fragrance oils. Candle Cocoon had always been focused on candles. I never thought we would actually be entering the field of soap making!  So our old labels reflected the needs of only candle makers with a nod to soap and lotion making. We have all of our oils tested for use in candles but for soaps they were only evaluated as to whether or not they could be used in soaps and lotions and not maximums. If it was under 5% we had marked them as not safe.Time to update! ...

Easy ways to secure your candle wick.You can tie your wick around a pencil to hold it in place. But you will need to untie it and retie it to make it taunt after you pour the wax. Total pain.  Either don't tie it until you pour your candle or use two craft sticks and a rubber band. Super simple. Note--rubber bands get old and break but they are great in a pinch! Or if you don't know if candle making will be your forever thing. If you make a lot of candles you may want to invest in metal...
