Palm Oil - Organic - RSPO sustainable

  • $3.00

Organic Palm Fruit Oil is used in many food and cosmetic industries.  It is obtained from the fruit of the palm tree.  Our oil is manually extracted (without the use of chemicals) by cold pressing the fruit of the palm tree.  The palm oil is then manually refined, resulting in a white to off-white colored oil that carries a bland to nonexistent odor and taste. As a result of the oil's high level of saturated fatty acids, organic palm fruit oil is a solid at room temperature. Palm is has the largest natural source of tocotrienol, which is part of the vitamin E family.  It is popular in cold and hot processed soaps because it gives a "fluffy" lather

Common Uses:
Hot and Cold Process Soap.
Friend of the Earth Certification:
Measures have been taken to offset the controversy surrounding the palm oil industry by pursuing and purchasing from palm product manufacturers who adhere to accepted sustainability practices.  All raw palm ingredients are from producers who are RSPO members and predominantly from South American countries where deforestation is not an issue.  RSPO criteria "No primary forests or areas which contain significant concentrations of biodiversity or fragile ecosystems, or areas which are fundamental to meeting basic or traditional cultural needs of local communities can be cleared." There are additional standards for the fair treatment of workers.
RSPO -"This non-profit organization aims to unite stakeholders from all sectors of the palm oil industry in an effort to develop and implement credible standards for the entire supply chain of sustainable palm oil, as well as monitor and evaluate the economic, environmental and social impacts of the uptake of this material."

Great palm oil but....

I gave this 4 stars because I don't like that it's packed in bottles.

Hi Donna! We don't like packing it in bottles either :) Palm oil is a tricky beast. Especially for smaller amounts. During warmer months it will melt right through any sort of bag so we have to take the extra time to melt it down and pour in bottles. During cooler months we are able to cut and send in protective compostable bags. We are always open to packaging suggestions!
